Moorfields Eye Hospital Site

As part of the bid process to select a development partner for the 2.5 acre City Road Island site, our scheme sought to retain much of the City Road historic buildings with an inhabited plinth containing retail, restaurants and affordable workspace. The new streets and courtyards create a permeable ground floor, inspired by the Hackesche Hofe in Berlin, an iconic series of interconnected courtyards.

Above, a publicly accessible landscaped terrace creates a garden and amenity space serving the offices, hotel and apartments. The new buildings are conceived as a vertical garden with wintergardens, terraces and planting to all elevations.
