The Beacon Mobile Performance Space

Carter Gregson Gray won a RIBA design competition to select a team for an iconic travelling performance space that will be created for Bradford UK City of Culture 2025.

​

The Beacon represents an incredible opportunity to create an icon for Bradford city of culture that celebrates Bradford’s heritage and its diverse communities, through social gathering, performances and artistic collaborations. Our design concept is a process, a journey based around many interweaving threads; the technical challenges of designing a mobile performance space and the cultural integration of community and arts projects. The structure of the performance space is a canvas to capture and record the Bradford's stories, experiences and narratives .
